Acrylic on linen I was in Vancouver for the Van Mural Fest in August, and my first day out painting, my bag was stolen, wallet and passport inside. That was my first time there, and I had not been warned about the property theft problem, something it seems everyone in Vancouver is quite familiar with. The people working at the stores and restaurants near where I was painting recognized me as, “Ah, you’re the girl from NY who had her passport stolen.” A friend took me for a walk through the DTES to look for my possessions, and that was the majority of Vancouver that I saw. It was an extremely bizarre, shocking, heavy experience, and seeing where my things went immediately after they were taken was revelatory. A very kind girl found my health insurance cards on the ground near East Hastings and Main, but everything else that was nicked is presumably still there.

So if anyone sees my passport somewhere on the streets of Vancouver, let me know.
